Cabling Types

Coaxial Cable: Coaxial cable is a traditional cable used in analog CCTV systems. It is made up of a copper core surrounded by a shielded layer, with an outer jacket for protection. Coaxial cable is durable and resistant to interference, making it ideal for transmitting analog video signals over long distances.

Twisted Pair Cable: Twisted pair cable is used in modern IP CCTV systems. It is made up of two or more pairs of insulated wires twisted together, with an outer jacket for protection. Twisted pair cable is lighter and more flexible than coaxial cable, making it easier to install. It is also less expensive than coaxial cable and can transmit both data and power over the same cable using Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology.

Fiber Optic Cable: Fiber optic cable is used for long-distance transmission of CCTV signals. It is made up of a thin glass or plastic fiber that carries light signals over long distances. Fiber optic cable is immune to interference and can transmit high-speed data over long distances without degradation. However, it is more expensive than other cable types and requires specialized equipment for installation and maintenance.

HDMI Cable: HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) cable is used to connect CCTV systems to high-definition displays, such as TVs or monitors. HDMI cable can transmit high-definition video and audio signals over short distances, making it ideal for connecting CCTV systems to local displays. However, it is not designed for long-distance transmission and may require additional equipment for signal boosting or distribution.
